Developing State

It has taken 100 billion won to design/produce/experiment for 10 years since KT-1 basic trainer was developed by Agency for Defense Development 1988. Such efforts could manufacture world leveled aircraft.
After the introduction of KT-1 #1 aircraft on August, 2000, pilot students have favorably received the instruction on basic flight training.

Performance

Self-developed KT-1 basic trainer can accomplish the splendid achievement that the Republic of Korea should become one of the aircraft producers. KT-1 basic trainer manufactured by domestic technologies is much more likely to be free from many licensee and foreign interference. Moreover, we can easily improve the performance to meet user demands in the future. KT-1 development is a turning point, domestically to research and develop airplanes and military aircraft can build up the foundation of technical and operation test procedures to apply to advanced trainers and the next fighters. Aircraft import substitution, overseas cost savings due to its exportation, and employment promotion in aerospace industries are great contributions to our economy.

Project Goal

KT-1 is developed by 7 companies such as Korea Aerospace Industries, Samsung Techwin, and NEX 1, wherein Korea is responsible for 64% of the whole amount and 87% of production.
